N 400 form – U.S. Citizenship

Available online, the N 400 form – U.S. Citizenship is an application for naturalization that’s only valid when completed by a lawful permanent resident who meets certain requirements. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old and have held a green card for at 5 years at the time of the application. However, those married to a U.S. Citizen can apply after 3 years. Before applying, the applicant must also be able to prove a continuous presence in the United States for the stated period. Upon submitting the application, the applicant must attach all supporting documentation as well as photos.

Applicants who’ve serve in the U.S. Armed Forces during a war may apply for naturalization before becoming a permanent resident provided the applicant enlisted in the military while in the United States. Unless exempt, the applicant is required to speak, read and understand ordinary English. The applicant must also have a moral character and willing to abide by the principles of the constitution.
